Columbus, Ohio – Through a partnership with TikTok, the leading destination for short-form mobile video, After-School All-Stars Ohio was awarded $30k to distribute food and essential supplies to their students and families in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. ASAS Ohio will distribute Kroger gift cards for groceries and other family essentials in both Columbus and Toledo over the next two weeks.

“We are operating in uncertain times, and it’s more important now than ever before for both our local and global communities to come together to help those in need,” said Vanessa Pappas, General Manager of TikTok U.S. “While this alone won’t mitigate the impact of the current situation, we hope it can relieve one worry for parents who are balancing social distancing mandates, work, and caring for children.”

ASAS Ohio families have been contacted to coordinate the distribution of the gift cards and items donated from local community partners, and will be distributed at the current ASAS Ohio school sites in Columbus and Toledo.

“ASAS Ohio families already struggle with food insecurity and COVID-19 has amplified these critical needs,” shared Tracy Ensign, ASAS Ohio Executive Director. “We are incredibly grateful to TikTok for selecting ASAS Ohio as a recipient of their community relief fund.”
