We work collaboratively with teachers to determine areas where students need extra support. Whether it be homework help, assistance with virtual learning, or studying for an upcoming test, we provide a mentor or volunteer tutor to support the student. We have also invested in proven curriculum (ie: LitART, Litamtics, IXL) to provide our students with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.
For the past few years, there has been a downward trend in reading proficiency for elementary and middle-school aged students. The majority of students are well below the reading level for their grade. By the time they enter high school, they cannot comprehend the text necessary to succeed in school.
In response to America’s literary crisis, ASAS Ohio invested in proven curriculum called LitArt to support our students with their reading proficiency. LitART uses a structured learning approach with an emphasis on hands-on learning. We have witnessed first hand how students have reexamined their overall attitude toward reading. The LitART curriculum helps students foster basic reading skills which can be easily integrated into their classroom reading time.
